Frequently Asked Questions
How does the gift giving process work? Take a tour!
When you create a MoneyPod, your MoneyPod Page is available to accept gifts on the internet 24 hours, 7 days a week, up until the date of your event. Simply let your friends and family know that it's available, and instead of traditional gifts and greetings, they can gift to your MoneyPod instead. Gifts are delivered to the recipient on their MoneyPod Event date.
Is MoneyPod secure?
Yes. All transactions, financial and sensitive personal information is processed exclusively by PayPal, the most established, secure online payment system available. MoneyPod never accesses or maintains credit card or bank account information.
Are there any fees for creating a MoneyPod?
No. Podsters can create as many MoneyPod Events as they want.
Are there any fees for gifting TO a MoneyPod?
Yes. We charge a total of 5% of the gift amount + .50 (fifty cents), paid by the gift giver. For example, a person gifting $20 would pay a total of $21.50 ($20 gift + $1.50 fee). The Podster (the final recipient of the gift) would receive the entire gifted amount of $20 on the day of his/her Event.
What method of payment can the gift giver use?
Gift givers can give a gift to your MoneyPod using a direct debit card, Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover, eCHECK, or funds in an existing PayPal account. Gift givers DO NOT have to have a PayPal account.
I'm the gift giver. Can I hide my gift amount so it doesn't show in my MoneyPod Greeting?
Yes. When posting your gift, simply click on the checkbox labeled "Hide...", located directly underneath the gift amount entry field. This option will replace your dollar amount with the words "It's a secret!" in your post.
Isn't giving cash tacky?
Not when you gift it through MyMoneyPod. Many cultures over time have embraced bestowing cash "or cash-equivalents" through money trees, money dances and the like.
Do I have to create my own MoneyPod?
Yes. For security reasons, gift recipients must register and create their own MoneyPod. However, if you prefer, you may assign a coordinator for your MoneyPod. This coordinator can send invitations and be the contact person for your friends and family members if they have any questions about your MoneyPod.
Where can I tell people to go to visit MyMoneyPod?
MoneyPod makes it easy to send email announcements directly from your MoneyPod page. When you create a MoneyPod, it is immediately available using the assigned ID number. Simply point your browser to http://www.mymoneypod.com/#, where # is the ID number. Because MoneyPod is an online system, it is ideal for sharing with your friends via online social networking sites like MySpace®, Friendsters®, Facebook® and countless others.
Can I withdraw the gifts as they come in?
No. All your gifts are collected together, and given to you in one lump sum on the day of your event. You'll just have to wait until your special day! Ah, the anticipation! What kind of fun would it be anyway if you didn't have to wait to open presents?
How do I collect my gifts?
On the day of your Event, you will receive an email from MyMoneyPod.com. After accepting your gifts, all you have to do is decide how you'd like to spend it.
How can I spend my MoneyPod cash?
A MoneyPod is real cash, not a gift card to be used at a specific store or mall. Once you accept your money, you can transfer it to your checking account. Or, simply use PayPal to make online purchases.
Can I see who has given gifts?
Of course. When a gift giver sends you a gift through MyMoneyPod, they can also send a greeting. Their gift and greeting is immediately posted on your MoneyPod Page. By visiting your Page, you can see all the friends and family member who have given you a gift (and they can also see each other's greetings and gifts as well!)
Can I create more than one MoneyPod?
Yes, you can create as many MoneyPods as you want. Make one for your birthday, for graduation, or for your wedding, as much as six months in advance.. Creating a MoneyPod is quick, easy and absolutely FREE. Note: We do not recommend making multiple MoneyPods for the same Event.
Why is your sample MoneyPod for a cat? Can I really have a MoneyPod for my pet?
Well, Jack volunteered, and we thought a silly example would be much more fun. It's up to you if you think your pet would like his own MoneyPod.
